如果你的面具被損壞或弄髒，或者呼吸變得困難，你應該丟棄它了，並應更換一個新的。為了安全地丟棄你的N95口罩，應將其放置在一個塑料袋，並把它丟進垃圾桶。處理用過的口罩後要洗手。

What is the difference between N95 masks and regular face masks?

Many people are looking to purchase N95 masks when travelling to Asia this winter. This type of mask is usually more expensive than regular face masks. Some people wonder if it is necessary to get the N95 masks instead of the regular face masks for travelling to Asia.  We have gathered the following information to help you select the right one.

Facemasks and N95 facemasks are both used for preventing the spread of viruses and bacteria from one person to another. This is one way of infection-control that should be used with frequent hand washing.

Regular facemasks can block splashes, sprays and large droplets (released through talking, coughing, or sneezing). In addition to this, the N95 mask is also designed to prevent the wearer from breathing in very small particles that may be in the air.

The ‘N95’ designation means that in careful testing, the N95 mask blocks at least 95% of very small test particles. If properly fitted, the filtration capabilities of N95 respirators exceed those of face masks. Before you purchase an N95 facemask, make sure you are aware of the following three points:

1.   For the N95 mask to work properly, it requires a proper fit to your face. Generally, to check for proper fit, you should put on your respirator and adjust the straps so that the respirator fits tight but comfortably to your face.

2.   N95 respirators are not designed for children or people with facial hair. Because a proper fit cannot be achieved on children and people with facial hair, the N95 respirator may not provide full protection.

3.   People with chronic respiratory, cardiac, or other medical conditions that make it harder to breathe, should check with their doctor before using an N95 mask because the N95 mask can require more effort to breathe. Some models have exhalation valves that can make breathing out easier and help reduce heat build-up.

Facemasks and N95 masks should not be shared because they can become contaminated with germs (viruses and bacteria) that can be spread between people.

If your mask is damaged or soiled, or if breathing becomes difficult, you should discard it properly, and replace it with a new one. To safely discard your N95 mask, place it in a plastic bag and put it in the trash. Wash your hands after handling the used mask.
