Women generally prefer to have a female family doctor. However, it is not easy to find a female family doctor that accepts new patients. Some women have told us that although their male family doctor is very good, they often feel embarrassed when they need a PAP test, a breast examination or just to ask questions related to their menstrual period.
Some patients wonder if they could just get their annual physical check-up with a female doctor and then return to their usual family doctor afterwards.
